Community Boat Tour Program

View the harbor from another perspective...

boat tourThe Port of Los Angeles, the nation’s number one containerport, is celebrating its Centennial year by inviting community groups to take a free, 90-minute harbor tour.

The community group boat tours are an expansion of the Port’s existing free boat tour programs, which saw a record 25,000 participants in 2006 — more than 10,000 of whom were Los Angeles Unified School District students.

Site boat tour participants will see include: Pier 400, the world’s largest proprietary container terminal; facilities where containerships “plug in” to electrical power while at dock instead of burning diesel fuel — saving tons of emissions from going into the air — a program only available at the Port of Los Angeles; the Angels Gate Lighthouse, entrance to the Port of Los Angeles and the only lighthouse along the California coast to have a green lightbulb; the West Coast’s busiest cruise ship terminal; and more!

Community groups wishing to take advantage of the free, narrated boat tours should call (310) 732-3508 to reserve a tour. A limited number of tour slots will be available and reservations are taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours will depart from San Pedro and transportation to the departure site is not included.
